Madame Clicquotilla oli tapana sanoa 200 vuotta sitten ”tummat viinirypäleemme antavat hienoimmat valkoviinit”. Se sanonta pitää edelleen paikkansa. Monimuotoisuudessaan rakastettu Pinot Noir -rypäle ilmaisee itseään eri tavalla sadonkorjuuvuoden kasvuolosuhteiden mukaan. La Grande Dame on taidokas sekoitus Veuve Clicquotin historiallista Grand Cru -tarhoilta, ja se on talon viininvalmistustaidon huippu, viini jolla on valtava ikääntymispotentiaali. Veuve Clicquotin viinintekijä Pierre Casenave, joka johtaa talon operatiivista viininvalmistusta, jakaa kanssamme neljä hienoa La Grand Damen vuosikertaa, jotka kuvastavat erilaisia vuosikertaprofiileja ja ikäluokkia. Vuonna 1977 syntynyt Pierre Casenave varttui Pyrénées Atlantiques’n alueella. Hän suoritti kemian tohtorin tutkinnon ja sen jälkeen enologian diplomin ja viinien MBA-tutkinnon. Usean vuoden kansainvälisellä viininvalmistuskokemuksella hän liittyi Veuve Clicquot’n tiimiin vuonna 2008. Talon viininmaistajapaneelin jäsen Pierre Casenave nimitettiin viininvalmistuksen kehitys- ja operatiiviseksi johtajaksi vuonna 2019.

Veuve Clicquot oenologist in charge of winemaking development and operations, Pierre Casenave, shares with us four fine vintages of La Grand Dame that showcase different vintage characters and age-levels. Let Pierre Casenave be your guide to the world of La Grande Dame, a tribute to Madame Clicquot, the Great Lady of Champagne.

Born in 1977, Pierre Casenave grew up in the Pyrénées Atlantiques. He completed a Doctorate in Chemisty and afterwards a Diploma in Enology and MBA in Wine. After several years of international winemaking experience, he joined Veuve Clicquot in 2008. A member of the house’s tasting panel, Pierre Casenave was appointed winemaking development and operations director in 2019.
