Champagne Drappier

Vuonna 1152 rakennettujen kellareiden paikalle pieneen Urvillen kylään Champagneen perustettiin Drappierin samppanjatalo vuonna 1808. Seitsemännessä sukupolvessa toimiva, edelleen perheomisteinen Drappier on yksi arvostetuimmista samppanjatuottajista, ja heidän kellarinsa ovatkin Champagnen alueen vanhimpia ja kattavimpia.

Drappierin kädenjälki alueen historiassa sijoittuu 1930-luvulle, kun Georges Collot istuttaa ensimmäisenä alueella Pinot Noir -lajiketta. Tästä lähtien hänet on tunnettu ”Father Pinot’na” ja Drappieria pidetäänkin alueellaan lajikkeen pioneerina. On the site of Clairvaux Abbey cellars built in 1152, in the small village of Urville in Champagne, the Drappier family estate was established in 1808. Drappier, still family-owned and operating in the seventh generation, is one of the most prestigious champagne producers, and their cellars are among the oldest and most comprehensive in the Champagne region.

Drappier’s handprint in the history of the region dates back to the 1930s, when Georges Collot was the first to plant the Pinot Noir variety in the region. Since then, he has been known as ”Father Pinot” and Drappier is considered a pioneer of the variety in their region. Other specialties of the house are their exceptionally low sulphite levels and operating principles as a producer of large bottle sizes.
