Winston Churchill was the most legendary friend of the House of Pol Roger – a man whose taste was defined by uncompromising standards. He famously summed up his philosophy: “My tastes are simple. I am easily satisfied by the very best”. It is in honour of this principle that the cuvée Sir Winston Churchill is created, a champagne produced only in the very finest vintages. The style of the wine reflects Churchill’s personal preferences: powerful, mature and exceptionally full-bodied – complex and generous, yet always elegant.

Guided by Bastien Collard de Billy, representative of the sixth generation of the Pol Roger wine family, we will delve into the world of this iconic cuvée through five vintages. The tasting brings together the newly released 2018 vintage alongside rare, long-aged bottles sourced directly from Pol Roger’s own vinothèque, situated on Epernay’s Avenue de Champagne, which Winston Churchill called the ‘world’s most drinkable address’. Thus Bastien Collard de Billy offers a unique opportunity to experience this legendary champagne’s evolution over time.

Pol Roger remains one of the few Champagne houses still family-owned. As a sixth-generation custodian of the family legacy, Bastien Collard de Billy is entrusted with preserving and passing on the House’s uncompromising commitment to quality. In his role as General Secretary, he serves as an ambassador for Pol Roger’s culture, history and future, seamlessly uniting tradition with modern excellence.
